Choose a PDF and every page is rendered as a high-resolution preview right inside the page. Pick your redaction colour — solid black is the standard for official documents, but you can also use white to blank an area out or any custom colour you like — then simply click and drag a rectangle over anything sensitive: a customer name, passport or ID number, bank details, an address, a phone number or a handwritten signature. Boxes can be drawn on any page, as many as you need, and Undo box or Clear selections lets you correct a mistake instantly.

When the document looks right, use Preview redacted PDF to check the result, then Download redacted PDF. The export does not simply place a shape on top of the original text — each page is flattened into a fresh image with the boxes painted permanently into it, so the words underneath no longer exist in the file and cannot be selected, copied, searched or recovered by removing a layer. Everything happens inside your browser tab; the document is never uploaded.
